While it doesn’t quite match the power or display boasted by the flagship Samsung Galaxy S25, the S24 FE offers the Galaxy S24 some handy competition. It supports Galaxy AI and provides a similar experience to the S24 while sporting a larger 6.7-inch screen. However, it has a weaker camera and a less durable display. While its base price is much more expensive, we’ve found the standard S24 for less than AU$700 since the release of the newer model.

The Samsung FE line of phones – and tablets – sit in a strange mid-spot that makes them neither a budget phone, nor a Flagship device. That in and of itself isn’t the weird part. Apple’s upcoming iPhone SE 4 will fill a similar hole, as does Google’s Pixel A series.
It’s worthy of note when it comes to Samsung because, unlike the other two, Samsung offers true budget devices to go with its Flagship Galaxy S phones – starting with the impressive Samsung Galaxy A56, all the down to the dirt-cheap Galaxy A05s.
We’re not complaining, though. More options is only a good thing for customers, and for those looking for a seriously good phone around the AU$1,000 mark, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is a fantastic option.

You get plenty of flagship functions too, like a full suite of Galaxy AI features – getting the best features sported by the best Samsung phones – a beautiful display and incredible battery life. In fact, the S24 FE’s display is a significant 0.6 inches larger than the Galaxy S24.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE hits the right notes in all the important areas. It’s got a sleek, iPhone-like design with a beautiful, low-key trio of colours options. And, while the display might not be the sharpest in the tools shed, the colours and details still pop on its peak 1900 nit brightness display.
It still performs fantastically, too – even if it doesn’t quite match the processing power of the Samsung Galaxy S24. Power-hungry activities like video calls and AI features. are a breeze, and the combination of a lower-power processor and higher battery capacity means the Galaxy S24 FE lives longer than the standard Galaxy S24. At a starting price of AU$1,099, it’s a very, very impressive smartphone.
